Looking After Your Wellness in Winter

Winter can be a challenging time for many people when it comes to maintaining their overall wellness.

The cold weather, lack of sunlight, and the stress of the holiday season can take a toll on both our physical and mental well-being. However, there are several strategies that we can implement to ensure that we prioritize and take care of ourselves during this time of the year. By being mindful of our self-care routines, staying active, and nourishing our bodies with the right foods, we can navigate the winter season with grace and improve our overall wellness.

SELF-CARE ROUTINES

First and foremost, it's crucial to be mindful of our self-care routines during the winter months. This includes activities such as adequate sleep, managing stress, and practicing relaxation techniques. The lack of sunlight during winter can lead to a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which can negatively impact our mood and mental well-being. To combat this, it's important to prioritize self-care practices that bring us joy and help us relax. This could be as simple as taking a warm bath, indulging in our favorite hobbies, or spending quality time with loved ones. By dedicating time to self-care, we can boost our overall well-being and prevent winter blues.

STAYING ACTIVE

Staying active is another essential aspect of wellness in the winter. It can be tempting to hibernate indoors during the colder months, but regular exercise is crucial for our physical and mental health. Engaging in physical activities not only helps us maintain a healthy weight, but it also releases endorphins, which are natural mood-lifters. There are plenty of indoor workout options available, such as yoga, dancing, or even home workout videos. If going outside for a walk or run is not feasible due to extreme weather conditions, finding creative ways to stay active indoors can be just as beneficial. Regular exercise will not only help us stay fit but will also boost our energy levels and improve our overall mood.

SELF-CARE FOR WINTER SKIN

Your skin can get extra dry in the Winter, therefore it is important to keep it hydrated. One of my favourite products is the award-winning Whipped Body Velvet (£28 Code 1WBV) which is an intensely rich buttermelt body cream.

Cocoon your body in softness with a replenishing blend of Madagascan Rare Butter, Baobab Oil and Vitamin E. Notes of Tahitian and Bourbon Vanilla create an aroma reminiscent of buttercream icing, offering a sweet treat for your senses.
